It is the conviction of Gillespie Academy that the role of the academy is primarily academic and not social so there is little in the way of formal social activities. However, one of the highlights of a year at Gillespie Academy is the opportunity to fellowship with peers who are equally committed to grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. The small class size coupled with the fact that students are all taking the same courses produces a tight knit bond between classmates that continues long after the year at Gillespie is complete. Students are free within the bounds of Gillespie’s constitution and Christian prudence to organize their social lives as they see fit.
Typically Gillespie students organize a volleyball team to participate in our local church league. Also, Gillespie students are warmly invited to take part in the life of Grace Presbyterian Church which includes weekly Wednesday night prayer meetings and regular invites to homes for meals, games and fellowship. Each class has a personality of its own and therefore the social aspect changes from year to year. One year it is Dutch Blitz at lunch another it is Spike Ball and another is Ping Pong or Fuse Ball.
